Organised by the General Administration of Sport of China once every four years, the National Games of the People’s Republic of China (NG) is the country’s highest-level and largest national multi-sports event. The 15th NG will be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao for the first time. The three sides will also co-host the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities of the People’s Republic of China (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG), to be held from December 8 to 15. Elite athletes from different provinces, municipalities and special administrative regions will gather in the three places to vie for top honours in different events.
The 15th NG will feature competition events for 34 sports and mass participation events for 23 sports. The 15th National Games (Hong Kong) will stage eight competition events, namely basketball (men U22), track cycling, fencing, golf, handball (men), rugby sevens, triathlon and beach volleyball, as well as one mass participation event, which is bowling. Besides, athletics marathon and road cycling events, which will be organised by Shenzhen and Zhuhai respectively, are being planned to run through Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to showcase the integrated development of the three places.
The upcoming NGD and NSOG will cover 37 and 9 sports respectively, amounting to 46 sports altogether. The 15th National Games (Hong Kong) will stage four competition events: boccia, wheelchair fencing and table tennis (TT11) for the NGD, and table tennis for the NSOG. In addition, Hong Kong will organise one mass participation event of para dance sport.

The 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival showcases nearly 200 films from 69 countries and regions, including 6 world premieres, 2 international premieres, and 52 Asian premieres. Opening film: world premiere "The Brightest Sun”, directed by Japanese filmmaker Nakashima Tetsuya and “Pavane for an Infant” directed by Malaysian filmmaker Chong Keat-aun; closing film: "Dream (Sex Love)" directed by Norwegian Dag Johan Haugerud, winner of the Golden Bear for Best Film at Berlinale.
