Personal data collected by the Information Services Department (ISD) will only be used for the purpose for which it has been collected, namely, reporting, website usage analysis and our online advertisement programme. It is voluntary to provide your personal data. However, in some cases (e.g. processing of orders or applications), failure to provide the required information may result in delays or your request not being processed. Online identifier of the visitor’s device (i.e. IP address) will be collected by automated means.
Personal data collected will not be retained for longer than necessary to fulfil the purpose(s) for which it is to be used. For purpose(s) directly related to the discharge of ISD’s administrative functions and activities, the personal data may be transferred to other government bureaux/departments. For the purpose stated above, the information that we collect may also be transferred to the third parties. In particular, we use third party providers of data storage, Google, YouTube, Youku, Instagram and Facebook (for matching of your personal data with their database in order to send you our direct marketing materials through your Google, YouTube, Youku, Instagram and/or Facebook account(s)), digital marketing and website analytic agencies (for display of advertising materials on websites that you may visit, and analysis of your online behaviour and usage of our Site).
You have the right to request access to or correction of your personal data, or withdraw your consent for its use. Under certain circumstances, you may request to erase your personal data; or object to or restrict to the use of your personal data; or obtain a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly-used and machine-readable format. Data access requests can be made with the Data Access Request Form (OPS003) while other requests should be made in writing to the ISD Data Protection Officer.
